A.R.T. INSTIUTE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Alumni of the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training share a unique experience. They have trained under Robert Brustein, one of the nation’s foremost theatre practitioners, and along with an extraordinary American faculty, the Institute classes from 1998 to the present also studied with the extraordinary artists of the Moscow Art Theatre. This unique training together with the rich intellectual environment of Harvard University, with which the A.R.T. is affiliated, creates truly distinctive, farsighted, imaginative, and intelligent theater artists.
The A.R.T. Institute Alumni Association is an independent non-profit organization founded by Alumni, run by Alumni, and for Alumni. The Association exists to support and strengthen the artistic and networking efforts of Graduates of the American Repertory Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. The Association is dedicated to maintaining and supporting a community of Graduates as they pursue their artistic goals in the world of theatre, film, television, and related performing arts. The Association also offers support and advice to current Institute Students both during their time as students and during their transition from graduate school into the professional world. In order to fulfill these purposes, the Association organizes three annual networking events, maintains a website and listserv, and publishes an annual Directory of Graduates. Our organization not only helps our own graduates survive and flourish in the competitive and challenging world of the performing arts, we also welcome the greater theatre community to join us for many events where we can share our important perspective and forge new ways of thinking about artistic collaboration and theatrical production in the American theatre. The Alumni Association offers these benefits to members and other individuals without regard to religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, race, creed, color, age, marital or parental status, disability or veteran status.
Our annual events include the Life After Showcase meeting, which takes place both in New York and in Los Angeles. This event brings seasoned alumni, and other experienced industry professionals together with the graduating Institute students to offer practical advice on surviving and building a career in the performing arts. Our annual fundraiser is the Winter Party which takes place in New York. We also host a Fall Gathering in New York and Los Angeles to welcome the new graduates to New York and discuss the present and future goals of the Association.
