Gin Hammond received a Helen Hayes Award as Outstanding Lead Actress for her 24-character performance in The Syringa Tree in Washington, DC, and also performed the play with great acclaim on the national tour. She is a 1998 graduate of the A.R.T/MXAT Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University / Moscow Art Theatre School, where here favorite roles included Nathalie in The Interview, the Muse in Women Beware Women, directed by Brian Jucha, and Emma in Betrayal, directed by fellow alum, Todd Olson. She appeared as a Maenead in the A.R.T. production of The Bacchae, directed by François Rochaix; as Leafy Lee in Polk County at Arena Stage (voted one of the top ten plays of 2002 by the New York Times), in Life is a Dream at Berkshire Theatre Festival, Noon Day Sun at Theatrefest; as well as at The Guthrie Theater, The Children's Theatre Company, The Long Wharf Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, The Pasadena Playhouse, and The Studio Theatre. She has also performed internationally at the Moscow Art Theatre and the Roadside Theatre in Heidelberg, Germany. Ms. Hammond is a grant recipient of the Ford Mellon Foundation for her work on a multi-cultural anthology of plays, under the auspices of Ms. Ruby Dee.
